NASA, in cooperation with Japan, a digital map of the world developed the unusual images of the Earth.
The digital world map of the U.S. space agency Nasa, the most extensive of its kind, covers 99 percent of the earth’s surface. The topographic Global Digital Elevation Model (GDEM) consists of approximately 1.3 million satellite stereo images. Low altitudes are purple, medium-height green to yellow and the highest regions of orange, red and white.
Recorded images were on board the Terra satellite observation with Japanese instrument ASTER (Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer). The world map can be especially for construction projects, urban planning and conservation measures can be used. The world map can be viewed free of charge and can be downloaded.
